The Meaning of the Crucifixtion

Rev 1:18 I [am] he that lives, & was dead; and, I am alive for evermore, Amen; & have the keys of hell & death.

Jhn 1:12 As many as received Him, to them gave He power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on His name:

Jesus took those "keys" from Satan on his own turf. Keys symbolize authority. Satan was stripped of his authority, because the Lamb of God, though a scapegoat for mankind, could not be legally bound by sin, because He was a sinless sacrifice.
